About Lila
Lila is a design-led children’s furniture brand creating thoughtful, adaptable pieces for early childhood. Founded in 2023, it began with a simple observation: most children’s furniture is quickly outgrown, visually overstimulating, or disconnected from how children actually learn and move through space. We set out to design an alternative, furniture that evolves with the child, supports independence, and becomes a quiet, enduring part of everyday life. At the heart of Lila is the idea of cosmic play, a belief that children learn best in environments that are calm, open-ended, and responsive.
Our work focuses on creating systems rather than standalone objects. Beds transform, tables adjust, and pegboards shift from play surfaces to study tools, allowing spaces to adapt over time instead of being replaced. Each piece is made from 100% birch plywood and finished with water-based, zero VOC coatings, aligned with international safety standards including EN71, REACH, and Greenguard certifications. Designed and manufactured in India, Lila responds to the realities of urban homes, where flexibility, longevity, and thoughtful use of space are essential.
Since our founding, Lila has worked with families and design professionals across multiple cities in India, creating considered children’s spaces within homes and larger residential projects. Our work has been presented at leading design platforms such as India Design ID and Design Mumbai, and recognised for its system-based approach to children’s furniture. In 2025, Lila was awarded Emerging Brand of the Year at Design Milestone, Kolkata. We continue to focus on creating pieces that are adaptable, enduring, and quietly supportive, designed to grow with the child and remain relevant over time.
